Let's Play in Colorado Springs!

A story game is a kind of game in which you make up a story with the other players. Most of these games are played around a table, by describing what happens in the story, possibly taking on a role of one or more characters in the story, and acting those characters out.

Let's Play in Colorado Springs!

Every month I run Story Games at my house in Colorado Springs. This month I'm also trying to put together a Story Games Day in Denver. So I'll need to deconflict these events, but I'm definitely planning on doing both if we have the players!

If you're in Colorado Springs or willing to drive here, please let me know which of these dates is best for you: 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, and 27 July. I'd like to nail down the date by next week if possible.

No experience with these games is required! All you'll need to bring is yourself (dice and pencils optional).

Also let me know what Story Games you're interested in trying out or what you'd like to run.

I believe the best date would be the 26th of July. Prime Time Adventures seems like a good game to play, considering how light the rules are.

Thanks for input! Some folks on the Yahoo Group and one on the RPG Meetup group have expressed their interest, but you're the first to pick a date! So I'll pass that around and if there are no objections that will likely stick for the Colorado Springs date.

PTA is a terrific game! We've actually started playing a season, but we've got plenty of room for more characters! Or we could start a new PTA game or play something else - whatever everyone who comes wants to do. A lot of Story Games are simple enough to create characters/worlds and play a full game in one session - but PTA is probably the easiest!

I'm pretty sure I can do the 26th.

If we do Apartments (from the link above) we need to do some reworking, anyway and I'd like to see if we can convince James to run (as part of that round robin experiment I was hoping to do.)

Otherwise, I'm up for a different series, now that I understand the rules a bit better. Maybe we should start this one off with a mid-season game and cherry pick our way around the campaign?

Or not.

Ah... 26th = Pencilled In

Game Day Set!

Postby scottdunphy on Tue Jul 08, 2008 4:36 pm

The date for the Colorado Springs event is set! Here are the details:

- Date: Saturday, 26 July
- Time: 4pm to 10pm
- Location: 6540 Leesburg Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80922
- Phone: 719-597-5854

We'll probably play two games if we can, and maybe more if we have enough gamers for two groups (I've got two big tables).

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Er... actually, something's come up.

I'm going to be late that day. A lot late, actually.

I'll find out tomorrow how late, but I'm thinking a couple hours, at least.

No problem Arpie! It looks like we've got at least 6 without you and we'll hopefully play something shorter to start off with.

We had ten people attend the Story Games Day at my place on Saturday! We broke up into two tables. Pam, John, Ken, Randy, and I played "Sons of Liberty" upstairs and Arpie GMed a game of "With Great Power..." for Shannon, Chris, Garret, and Justin downstairs. "Sons of Liberty" is a pretty short game (about three hours) and we finished well before the basement crew. So we also got in a "Roleplaying Poem" (a very short RPG, not actual poetry) with a horror theme before Pam and John had to go.

We're planning on finishing up the "With Great Power..." game that was started this coming Saturday - but rest assured there will be another full Meetup for Story Games scheduled in August!

I had a great time. It was really good meeting everyone and I look forward to playing with all the people I didn't get a chance to this time.
